Day 28. Last face of the challenge!

All things come to an end. In the beginning it always seems to me that February will last 5 years and it will be an impossible mountain to climb, but as the days and weeks go, time speeds up and always feels like it rushed too much the very last day.

I hope everyone enjoyed their time and efforts, and that now you all feel a bit stronger and daring. Give yourself a pat in the shoulder! ♥

My face for today 28th is on a gelli mono-printed paper.

Day 27, I see red

This one is made in a larger journal, the paper is not so great for wet media, so I will have to gesso a few pages as I go. But is a nice size 11 x 9 inches about 28 x 21.5 the inside pages.
Just red acrylics. I like how she is turning her face.

One more day.... wow

Day 26, kind of Zentangle

Confession: I am not a big fan of making zentanlges. Why? because I don't feel zen at all! It is very stressing for me. When I do it in pencil I am ok, but then of course I want to ink it and it all tangles from there hahaha
So, today, I have this "kind of zentangle" piece.

I know it can be larger and fuller and more zentanlgy looking, but there you go.

Three more from my daughter:

Day 25, Remember Feb has 28 days!

... So we need to make 2 faces one day, or  at least try!
I have another journal page, a funky background just rolled there and pencil sketch:

My daughter has several faces for today, and she has more but I have not scanned them :oP  ...Some of her work is done on her notebook which I hope is not being done at class time lol :>O

Thanks for visiting! I'm better from my cold but still have a funny voice.

Day 24.... 4 more days only?

Seems like time flies when I'm running a challenge!
For this, instead of doing an outline, I went making round shapes to do more areas rather  than lines.

I have been dealing with this sneaky cold and it complicates everything.
Memo to myself: Don't catch any colds. Ever.

Day 23, strident yellow

I have been finishing most of the faces I started but I also have been dealing with a family full of ill people and they got me again... I have a cold and a totally stuffed up nose. Agh!
Anyway, here's my face for today!
Screaming yellow! And blue, which turns in awesome aqua in some spots, green in others. :oD

I also have this little face that popped from a black paint brush. And I worked on more layers too:

That's it for today, I hope you all are having nice weather or at least bearable ♥ if not... then you can visit more blogs for the 29 faces challenge! lol

Day 22 of 29, pastel colors

I like to scan the first steps of a portrait, and see later on, if it reflected what I had in mind or if it took a different path...
Unfortunately I overused the green color in many pages and it is one of the difficult shades to work for natural skin tones. I wanted to leave more of the under layer, but I don't like a martian look on all of the faces hahahaha So I gave her a wash of blue, then some beige.

I think I'm happy of the direction this is going. Let's see later how it ends!

Thanks for visiting!

Day 20, are we there yet?

Wow... Are we running really the last days of the challenge?
I have no clue where I'm going with this face but I like the eyes.
OK, 8 more days to do at least one different thing, that you have not tried, or that you would like to practice some more....
What is it for you? I am grabbing my printed gelli paper!

Day 19 of 29, more pages

And started more, cleaning the brushes:

I am having so much fun with this pages! And I haven't even touch my gelli paper!!

Day 18, acrylic portrait with green

Working on this page and I think she will be cute when I'm done... even with the green under paint!

My daughter is catching up but we still need to scan some more.
With these she has 13 faces posted:

Day 17 of 29. More realistic

This one face I had already started some time ago and I worked on it some more:

And here are some of the steps. There is still a lot of brushwork but tends to go more towards realistic.

It was a fun page to make!

Day 16 of 29. Fire red

Another WIP in my art journal plus a cool digital effect. I think I like the digital version better!

I also want to take a moment to THANK you all for the wonderful hearth-warming comments about the 29 faces challenge... some of them have moved me to tears and I'm not kidding.
So much love and joy has to come out all wet from my eyes at times haahah yes, I am that silly.
Creative people meeting more artsy people in a far away place and making a new friend, that will bring something positive to their lives. It is a beautiful thing. ♥

Day 15 of 29 faces. Yellow!

I love the yellow in this background! I'm going to let it show on the next layers of hair and clothing.

I got this awesome Frida ACEO from Tammy Gulat.. yaaay! so beautiful!!
And a nice note with it, made my day ♥ I had to share it:

Day 14, love and faces

Happy Valentine's day!
This is not a very romantic face hahaha! But does it count if it was made with a happy disposition? ;o) I actually like it just like that. I don't think I'm adding anything later, but then again.... who knows!

I'm sharing this cute video and I hope everyone has a fun day full of love, art and some chocolates! In many countries this is a day to celebrate love AND friendship, because love comes in many shapes and forms... have a happy day to all my friends and online buddies!

Day 13. Collage paper

I took some awesome collage paper and pasted it on my page. After that and due to the  large pieces, I had no idea what to do next.... but I think this will turn really nice, I can see it in my mind. Sooner or later you will see it in the blog too.
For now I am enjoying leaving my pages in progress :oD

I also made yesterday a quick upside-down sketch. We went to have a sandwich and I grabbed my pen to doodle on the receipt. I recommend you all to make one, it is fun!
It turned out better than I expected hahah

Day 12, monochromatic

This is a simple "clean the brush" type of painting on a journal page. (The journal used to be a calendar) Just dragged  the paint till it made some kind of sense and left it at that.
Hard for me to stop!

Reminds me vaguely of the Lord Dooku in Star Wars heheh
I forgot to mention that I am now including a link to art and workshops, because I was told that in mobils devises the side bar and sometimes top menu are not visible.
Either you have to find the "video as a website" link, or see links in posts.
So.....

Day 11 laughing girl sketch

This is my face for this day, it is a little girl laughing ...maybe she is having fun looking at the skull?

I changed a few things in the skull from a few posts ago. I like her much better now!

Day 10 Need to finish this one!

Some people have time to work better over the weekends... not me. I still do a little but not as much as I always think I will do.
But, there's always time for a sketch, no matter were we are!

Day 9, big plans

I have big plans for this lady here! Earthy tones for her... if I have time I will update later today, if not, I will post her new version in the next posts.

How are you doing in your personal goals for the challenge?

My daughter is joining too, 4 faces today:

Day 8 of 29. Playing with pencil...

...and a bit of color ! Being a weekend and everyone here with plans, I know I don't have time to do much for my face but knowing myself I will do something more than just aqua!
I like how the paper printed lines show still.

Can you believe we are starting week two?

Day 7 of 29. A worried skull

We don't have to like everything we do, right? LOL I'm just going to leave it for covering later on. She has in my opinion some salvageable features, I kind of like the horrible teeth, but the things on the head...? yuck! Wrong color.

Oh well.... We can't win them all can we? ;o)

Day 6 of 29 faces. Video!

I started this page with a red background, then cleaned my brush with some yellow paint, just basically dragging  it on the paper, nothing fancy, but I like the results on that first layer.

Then I grabbed my camera and started to paint.

Day 5 - Art Journal Page

OK, so this one is all crazy. I will have to come back and do something to it in more realistic flesh tones, but my goal is loosing my brush stroke. Pretty loose if you ask me! hahaha

Keep your paintbrush wet!

Day 4 of 29 faces

Pencil sketch girl portrait. This is one of my little girls I always make in ACEO size but the challenge was to make her larger. I think she actually looks better than in a smaller size, easier to draw for sure even if kind of funky changing dimensions once you get used to draw one size of features.

Tomorrow I will tackle my journal pages!
Are you having fun with your faces? (Do I even have to ask? lol)

29 Faces challenge, day 3

I am so thrilled to get all the emails from both blogs, yesterday was crazy busy with so many happy people loving the 29 faces challenge! It is simply amazing. I am sending a hug to all and each of you!
You make February gray winter days sunny!

We went to the movies yesterday to see Groundhog day, right on Groundhog day! How awesome is that haahha They have been showing old movies at the cinema and next Sunday is Sleepless in Seattle, another favorite of mine.

Well, inspired by the rodent (and challenged by Jeanette House to make animal faces lol) I made this little pencil sketch, then I decided to add a shadow in the computer  so it looks different than the pencil, and I added the text bubble.

See you tomorrow, keep making faces!

29 Faces challenge, day 1

Happy beginning of the month!  Happy 29 Faces challenge!

I am posting 3 faces today, just in case I get too busy in the next couple of days. Last time I had about 100 emails a day and I absolutely love it, but doesn't leave much time to create (•‿-)
So here are one, two and three:

My personal challenge is to loosen my brush and free my backgrounds.
Knowing myself I will go back and work on them some more, but I really enjoyed letting go and make some abstract.
Remember to post a hashtag #29faces in the networks, so we can click that and find each other! And also use the tag/label in you blog post.

Oh! Happy Chinese new year too!

May we all get unstuck from wherever we were!
